TBOE February Upd8: Pony stables


Good february to all, today I have for you an upd8 that primarily brings a new floor leading into a new ending.

The Stables are a new floor to which the Jockey will take you if you consistently fail to bring her supplies to her. On this floor there are Giftwrappers who apply Ribbon bondage to you if they can catch you, and Haystacks in which to hide from enemies. The Jockey joins you on this floor in her Sulky, from which she barks orders, which you would do well to obey. Fail to submit yourself to the floor's Permalocker and you will be branded with great shame.


Alongside this, some additions, tweaks and bugfixes e.g.

  • An Hourglass is available once you are permalocked. This allows you to time travel to the beginning of the game, keeping any items in your wardrobe and inventory, but not on your body
  • There is no longer a button to arm/disarm. Instead you always do no damage on attacks, unless you hold the attack button for a second to charge, after which you can deal damage to enemies at the cost of an attack stone
  • New enemy: Giftwrapper, applies ribbon bondage
  • New enemy: Whitener, applies vantawhite items in melee range
  • New prop: Haystack, hides you from enemies while you are within it and for a short time after exiting it
  • Failure Cage added
  • UX/UI improvements
    • Map shows icons to inform you of the contents of rooms
    • Some controller support
    • When selecting an item, 'doff' is the default selection rather than 'doff with helping hand'
  • Tweaks
    • Plenty of new rooms added
    • Solid points - the enemies that chain you with a Simple Collar - now require line of sight to shoot
    • Picking up vials is more reliable
    • Holding sprint while standing still no longer consumes stamina
    • Pony gloves only force-equip items if you get the item from a lootbox

    • Control suit is mildly easier to remove
    • Subitems is the system where some items take one form when held in the inventory, but can be worn in multiple different forms. e.g. rope has subitems of rope gag, leg ropes, etc. It has been improved in the following ways:
      • Fixed bug where item worn as a subitem would have the wrong bondage effects
      • Subitem menu now navigable with keyboard
      • Tape now uses subitems
    • Item collision tweaks
    • Prop drawing order tweaked
    • Loading screen changed:
      • No longer shows full paths of files on your computer
      • Cool message history added
      • Sketches added
      • Loading is much faster now
    • Loading later floors is faster, with the sacrifice of slight lag when entering a room
    • Severe blindness hides the map
    • Stratagem minigame is less likely to overflow off the screen
  • Visual improvements
    • Some tiles have random variations
    • Some floors have different backgrounds
    • Player icon in minigames now looks more like Eliza and less like a bowling ball
  • Bugfixes
    • Status effects from vials persist between floors
    • Vials no longer disappear between floors
    • Quitting & reloading no longer sends you home
  • Translations
    • There are no official or unofficial translations yet, but there is a rudimentary system by which the downloaded version of the game can accept them. 
    • If you obtain translation files in the form of two files translations_??.csv and global_translations_??.csv, you can use them by placing them in the /tboe_mods/base folder next to the game executable then restarting the game
    • Making translations:
      • Find the two letter ISO 639-1 language code for the language being translated into, e.g. ru for russian, ja for japanese, zh for chinese
      • Copy files translations_en.csv and global_translations_en.csv, renaming them to match the target language e.g. translations_zh.csv
      • With any spreadsheet editor, change the second column of both files:
        • First row changed from en to the two letter language code
        • Translate text in the second column
        • Text in {{double braces}} should not be translated
        • %s represents some value that the game will insert later. e.g. in Gained %s , %s is replaced by the name of an item. You can't change the number of %s or the order of them, but you can move them as makes sense
        • A lot of dialogue starts with <portrait=something>, that should not be translated

New attack method seems to just cause my attack to not happen instead of being empowered.
